Our Group Board
Nicholas Oughtred - Chairman
As Chairman of the Group Board, Nicholas is responsible for communicating with shareholders, managing the Group’s property portfolio and insurance arrangements and, most importantly, ensuring our culture is properly understood and our values upheld.
Nicholas, who is the great great grandson of the business’s founder William Jackson, is a graduate of Stirling University where he obtained a BA Honours in Business Studies with Economics. He joined the William Jackson Group in 1983 holding various roles before being appointed Group Company Secretary in 2003. He was made a Director of the Group Board in June 2006 prior to becoming Chairman in January 2007
James Watson - Chief Executive
James was appointed Chief Executive in November 2019 following a year as Chief Operating Officer. Prior to this he was Managing Director of Aunt Bessie’s, a position he held for four years.
James joined us as Corporate Development Director for the Group in 2008. He also held the position of Managing Director of our bakery, Jacksons, for four years.
He previously worked for the Baxters Food Group and JP Morgan. Like a number of our senior colleagues James has studied the Advanced Management Programme at Harvard Business School.
As Chief Executive, James is responsible for the performance of our businesses and the development of the Group. He works closely with our Managing Directors, focusing on the strategic plan, and invests time in developing talent to ensure we have the best team in place both for now and the future.
Monica Turner - Chief Financial Officer
Monica joined WJFG as Chief Financial Officer in February 2020. As CFO Monica leads our finance team at WJFG HQ and also supports our FDs in the subsidiary businesses.
Monica joined the Group from ASDA Stores Limited & Walmart Inc where she held a number of senior roles over 23 years. Her most recent position was Vice President Finance for Asda Stores Limited. Prior to this, Monica, who is also a trustee of the Royal Armouries, was Vice President Finance for Walmart.com and CFO for Jet.com
Sonya Eastaugh - Non Executive
Sonya joined the Group Board in October 2016 and is a sixth-generation family member.
Sonya qualified as a veterinary surgeon in 2002 and has been working as a vet ever since. Having worked with both farm and small animals, she now specialises in reptile work. As a member of the management team at the Northamptonshire surgery where she works, Sonya is responsible for developing the team and ensuring the practice’s values and professional standards are upheld.
Roger White - Non Executive
Roger White, whose early career was in the bakery sector, joined our Group Board in April 2019.
For the last 18 years he has been CEO of soft drinks business AG Barr and is well versed in the UK FMCG market. Roger also has acquisition and integration experience, which, alongside his FMCG acumen, will bring valuable and relevant experience to the Group Board.
Andrea Davis - Non Executive
Andrea Davis, a Managing Director with Investcorp International Ltd, joined our Group Board in April 2019. She started out in a family business but more recently has worked in the merger and acquisition area specialising in business acquisition and integration.
A financier by trade, Andrea is well versed in the digital world and brings valuable experience to the group.
Katie Denyer - Company Secretary
Katie joined us in 2009 as our Group Finance Controller. She has since held various senior positions across the Group, including Finance Director at Jackson’s Bakery, Group Risk Assurance Director and is currently our Group Finance Director and Company Secretary. She joined the Group after working for Northern Foods and Ernst & Young.
Mark Oughtred - Non Executive
Mark joined the Group Board in October 2020 and is a sixth-generation family member.
Mark graduated from Newcastle University with a Food Marketing degree. His career has been in marketing and brand development within the fresh produce and horticultural industries having previously worked for companies such as Total produce, Agrico UK and the Horticultural Trades Association. He is also a Special Constable for Thames Valley Police.
As well as bringing marketing experience, Mark is passionate for employee well-being, upholding the family values and company culture, and driving sustainability.
